What You Need to Know About Fiberfrax
What You Need to Know About Fiberfrax
October 08, 2017

Fiberfrax is a coating material that is used for ceramic fiber castables, fiber modules and refactory bricks. In order to ensure it is highly resistant, it is manufactured with purity oxides and high fibrous materials. It is usually designed ready for application under high temperatures of about 1500oC.

The advantage of fiberfrax is that it can be used for insulation and as a result, it creates a surface that is resistant to flame impingement and abrasion.

The coating can either be applied by pumping, troweling or gunning. Below are additional benefits of fiberfrax:

  • High Abrasion Resistance: It is designed for durability and when used as a coating it helps reduce the impact of abrasion.
  • Reduced Heat Loss: Fiberfrax insulates surfaces by ensuring that there is minimal loss of heat and decreases the risk of cracks. This feature is a factor of saving the cost of energy by retaining the needed energy for industrial processes. Furthermore, it is designed with the ability to reflect energy thereby increasing energy efficiency.
  • Thermal Shock Protection: Fiberfrax is designed with the ability to form a ceramic bond under high temperatures. This factor assists the fiber to ensure that the modules where it is applied are enhanced with more strength and integrity.
