About Us

350,000 years ago, our ancestors discovered fire, which served as a major catalyst for civilization. The ability to cook food, make tools, and to provide heat and light have been crucial elements of our everyday lives for millennia. Human brains evolved; bodies grew stronger, and our capacity for our world to grow increased massively. Mankind first became aware of “refractories” in the early Bronze Age (3000-4000 BC), when pit kilns were dug into the ground to create earthenware and tools.

Many historians believe that these kilns were dug in fire-resistant soils that retained heat while maintaining form – essentially making them the earliest refractories. From the early dawn of human existence, fire was used to make our days longer, to make our brains work harder, and to make our food taste better.

Fast-forward a few hundred millennia, and the pursuit and subsequent discovery of fire-resistant materials along with iron-producing technologies triggered the Industrial Revolution… which in turn has brought our world to the present day.

The cement beneath our feet, the lights above our heads, the glasses and dishes we use every day, and the pizzas in our ovens have all benefitted massively from these technologies. The importance of properly harnessing the power of heat and fire is something that cannot possibly be overstated, and it is at the very heart of our business here.

Our History

FibreCast was founded in 1993 by George Badovinac and Jules Jarc with a single purpose – to raise the industry standards for insulator products and refractories. They saw a significant disconnect between the industry’s challenges and opportunities, and the available products and solutions. The company started by two visionaries who have a combined experience of over fifty years for refractory design, engineering, and innovation is at the top of its game today, delivering excellent service in addition to best-in-class products and solutions.
